Caldwell Lost And Found Spoon Cigar review by @CigarKurt.

Today, I am enjoying and bringing you the Caldwell Spoon from their Lost And Found series. Over this past year, I have been really enjoying Connecticut BroadLeaf wrappers and I am looking forward to enjoying this beauty.  The Spoon I am enjoying is the 5 x 54 Robusto size.  It is produced in the Dominican Republic and the wrapper as I said is Connecticut Broadleaf.  The binder is Nicaraguan and the filler is Dominican and Nicaraguan.

If you have read my review on the Caldwell Spam Artist you will remember that I picked up a sample pack at a tremendous savings and the Spoon is another cigar that was included in that pack.  So this lovely specimen of a Cigar is coming in at another $2.75 a stick!  How can you beat that?

When I pick up the spoon I am greeted with a traditional size Robusto that feels solid in my hand.  It is adorned with a simple black band with a simple white spoon on the front and the word “spoon” on the left side.  It is a nice contrast to the beautiful maduro broadleaf wrapper.  Initial aromas of the foot and wrapper bring a wonderful Oak, Hay and Leather across my senses.

Cold Draw

I remove the cap with a precision guillotine straight cut using my trusted perfect cut cigar cutter.  Initial draw brings notes of a dark roasted coffee bean and Hay. There are no draw issues as I have come to expect with Caldwell.

1st Third

After a careful and deliberate anticipatory toasting and initial few puffs of the cigar bring forth a very nice black pepper.  Dominate Oak and smooth, rich leather are soon to follow.  Another wonderful broadleaf cigar is underway and I am excited to see how it progresses. Right now I have this cigar just under a medium strength with a 4-5 out of 10 on my flavor strength profile.

2nd Third

A nice transition into the second third moves that smooth leather up front followed by the black pepper and Oak.  I am happy to discover the introduction of a delightful Nutmeg into the mix.  I still have it at a 4-5 in strength and I am really enjoying this cigar.

Final Third

The nice black pepper increases a little in intensity which makes a nice transition into this final third.  This black pepper is still very nice and mild, even on the retrohale.  The smooth, rich leather and Oak remain consistent as they have throughout.  The nutmeg also still remains but is slightly muted as it competes with the increased black pepper.

Final Thoughts

Another fine Cigar from the Caldwell Lost And Found series.  The cigar was not overly complex but I really enjoyed it.  Consistent flavor notes of Black Pepper, Oak and Leather were enjoyed throughout as the Black Pepper and Leather took turns driving.  Nutmeg joined the ride in the second third and remained until the finish.  Burn and construction were flawless with no touch ups throughout the burn.  Is this a cigar for the new cigar smoker?  Absolutely, yes.  With the slight increase in black pepper in the final third I have this cigar at a solid medium at a 5 out of 10 on my flavor strength profile.  I give this cigar a 90 out of 100 overall.  Smoking time on this Robusto was 55 minutes.  Highly recommended if you can score one.
